Intro to Oils for Illustration

A 6-week workshop introducing you to oil painting for illustration.

This is going to be a six week workshop getting you introduced to oil painting. We'll cover painting from life and from reference. We'll explore different surfaces to work on, using references, and the materials used in the studio.

Materials covered will be preparing and using different surfaces, brushes, limited palettes, using references from photos that you will take, composition, lighting, values, finishes, and ways to get your images to your client.

We will also work from models similar to the FIW Workshop at times as well.

April Workshop

The April theme will be Rogue Traders.

This month is going to be fantastic. We have not one but three models for the workshop. Our theme again are Rogue Traders from Games Workshop Warhammer 40k. Think, space pirates but more rogue-y.

This is really going to be a special opportunity. James Wulfgar and a few of his crew from Wulfgar Weapons and Props are going all out to bring you this triple model treat.

We will start off with some short poses, and one long pose for about four hours or more. The fee for this workshop will be $25. I'll have some snacks and drinks. If you take photos of the model (and you've asked for permission) be sure to give a tip.
